Clif Norrell is a highly sought-after record producer, recording engineer, and music mixer who has produced and/or engineered classic recordings by high profile, critically acclaimed, and influential artists including Jeff Buckley, Weezer, Sting, Rush, Faith No More, R.E.M., Jewel, No Doubt, and many others. Clif has been awarded multiple Gold and Platinum sales awards for the US and many other countries for his creative contributions to these albums, in addition to many of his projects being nominated for Grammy awards and their equivalents in countries outside the United States. CURRENT PROJECTS and LATEST NEWS:
  
 
Clif engineered the new album by Bruce Springsteen titled "Wrecking Ball", due to be released on March 6.  The first single off the album is titled "We Take Care of Our Own" is now available, and the album debuted at #2 on the iTunes charts!  
 
Clif engineered a project by a new supergroup called SuperHeavy consisting of Mick Jagger, Joss Stone, Damian Marley, Dave Stewart, and A.R. Rahman. The new album was released on September 30 on Universal Music. An incredible video for the first single, Miracle Worker, can be seen here.
 
Clif recently recorded some tracks for a new album with multi-platinum selling Arista Records recording artist, Gavin Degraw. The album is titled "Sweeter" and was released on September 20, and debuted at #3 on the iTunes album chart.
 
Clif mixed tracks for a new Spanish language album by Disney superstar Selena Gomez.
 
Clif recently mastered a new album titled "Juggernaut of Justice" by legendary Canadian heavy metal group Anvil.
 
Clif mixed a sweeping, epic orchestral piece by composer Inon Zur for the much anticipated release of the "Dragon Age 2" video game for Electronic Arts.  One million copies of the game were sold within the first two weeks of release.
 
Clif produced and mixed another album with Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers titled "Unida Cantina".  Clif and the band recorded once again in Mexico since the last album they did together there (the groundbreaking "Turbo Ocho" album) went so well.  The album debuted on the iTunes rock album chart at #4.
 
Clif mixed the new Miley Cyrus single, "Can't Be Tamed" in 5.1 surround for her breakthough new video that is certain to get a lot of attention.

Clif mixed a new song titled "Live Like There's No Tomorrow" for teen pop star Selena Gomez for her new album, "A Year Without Rain", which debuted on the Billboard 200 Album Chart at #4 and has been certified Gold. The song was also part of the soundtrack for her new film "Ramona and Beezus" from 20th Century Fox. Clif mixed a stereo mix for the soundtrack album and also a 5.1 surround mix for the theatrical and DVD film release.

Clif recently mixed a live recording of an incredible show by Canadian singer-songwriter Serena Ryder and her band for Atlantic Records. Serena won the Juno Award for Best New Artist in 2008, and her new album "Is It Okay" has gone Gold in Canada and also won a Juno Award for Best Adult Alternative Album in 2009. Serena is a supremely talented and soulful singer who has been relentlessly touring and building a loyal following all over the world, and she has been favorably compared to greats such as Alanis Morissette and Melissa Etheridge.

Clif recently finished recording and mixing a new album and EP with Camera Can't Lie, a pop/rock/alternative band from Minneapolis for Atlantic Records. The EP, titled "Days and Days" is now out.
 

RECENT PROJECTS:
 

Clif mixed a new track for amazingly talented American Idol finalist Allison Iraheta for her debut album "Just Like You" on 19/Jive/RCA Records, which debuted at # 35 on the Billboard Album chart. She finished in 4th place last season with her outstanding powerful live performances.

Clif mixed tracks for rising Disney star Selena Gomez for the soundtrack to her Disney film, "The Wizards of Waverly Place" and also for her solo debut album on Hollywood Records, titled "Kiss and Tell", including the title track and first single, "Falling Down". Look for her to follow in the footsteps of Miley Cyrus and become a superstar in 2010. The album has made it to the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 200 album charts and has been certified Gold by the RIAA!

Clif recorded new tracks with New York based pop/rock/indie band The Sequel for EMI.
 
Clif just mixed a track for new Dutch rock band The Phoenix Explosion which will be featured on a new Converse compilation CD.
 
Clif mixed a new album for the San Francisco-based pop/electro/rock band The Lovemakers, titled "Let's Be Friends". The album's first single, "Love Is Dead", was the iTunes Single of the Week during Apple's recent rollout of their new iPod lineup and iTunes 9. Clif produced the band's debut album on Interscope Records, and was honored to be asked to work with this fantastic band again on their new project.

Clif also produced and mixed a new album titled "Dancing in a Dangerous World" for the excellent Israeli band Moshav.
 
Clif mixed a track for up and coming Dutch rock band Daybroke.
 
Clif engineered and mixed a new album for the very talented worship music artist Jeremy Riddle titled "The Now and Not Yet".

Clif mixed the debut album by the stunning alternative rock band The Yelling.

Clif mixed a new album for ultra cool New York indie rock band Fires of Rome titled "You Kingdom You". A recent New York Times review describes the sound as "precisely snarling guitars with outlandish vocal keening...every part was sharp, audacious, and in its place."

Clif traveled to northern New Jersey, where he recorded a brilliant live show by Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers using the famous Record Plant Remote recording truck. The project was graciously sponsored by Wave Distribution, distibutors of high end pro audio gear, including the amazing Distressor. Clif mixed the live concert at his mix studio and video of the tracks can be seen and heard on the band's web site.

Clif recorded some great new songs with Southern rockers Georgia for their upcoming CD on Atlantic Records.

Clif mixed some new songs for Mega Teen Sensation Miley Cyrus for her new album "Breakout" on Hollywood Records. The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard album sales chart, and has been certified Platinum by the RIAA.

Clif recently completed recording and mixing a new album for Multi-Platinum selling rock band, Candlebox, titled "Into the Sun" which had a top 10 Rock radio hit with the single "Stand".

Clif also mixed a song for singer/songwriter/actress Emmy Rossum on Geffen Records featuring guest vocals by Matt Good of 2008 Warped Tour Headliners From First To Last. Emmy is best known for her Golden Globe-nominated performance as the lead in the stage and film version of "The Phantom of the Opera".

Clif recorded and mixed some brilliant new songs with his old cohort, Canadian Hawksley Workman. One of the tracks featured vocals by the extremely lovely and talented Marion Cotillard, who portrayed Edith Piaf in the wonderful French film, "La Vie En Rose". Marion won the Academy Award, the Golden Globe, and the BAFTA (British Oscar) for Best Actress this year for her phenomenal performance. The beautiful track is part of the Cartier Love Project, benefiting charities committed to fighting childhood hunger worldwide.

Clif mixed a new album by Copenhagen, Denmark indie/powerpop band The Alpine. The album is an ambitious collection of bittersweet songs in the finest Scandanavian tradition.

Clif traveled to Mexico to complete an ambitious and historic album project with Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers. Clif and the band wrote, recorded, and mixed 8 new songs in 8 consecutive days, uploading each new song and a video of them creating it to the band's web site each day for their fans to enjoy. They capped off the week's festivities with a sold out show, kicking it off with all the new tunes. Have a look here if you want to check out what they came up with. Clif recorded some new songs with super-hot artist/producer Mark Ronson. Mark recently had a #2 single in England as a solo artist, and won the Producer of the Year Grammy in 2008.

Clif produced and mixed an EP for singer/songwriter Chris Chavez. Chris combines emotional folk, acoustic rock, and Eastern musical influences in the vain of Richie Havens, Ben Harper, and Led Zeppelin. One of the songs Clif produced was recently used in the hit TV show Gossip Girl.

Clif recorded rock legends The Police in New York, for their first time in the studio in over 20 years. "Amazing" is all Clif can say.

Clif also produced and mixed a new album for soulful, rootsy, UK-based singer-songwriter Traverso on A-Z Records.

Clif mixed a track for Multi-Platinum recording artist Miley Cyrus (also known as Hannah Montana) for her new solo album on Hollywood Records titled "Meet Miley Cyrus" which debuted at #1 on the Billboard album chart. The album has been certified Triple Platinum sales in the US by the RIAA.

Clif produced and mixed a new CD titled "Music for the Hearing Impaired" with the superb San Diego rock band Corporate Circus which was recently released on Clif's own record label, Supersonic Music.

Clif also mixed some striking songs for Australian band/duo
Boomla. Boomla blends jazz and funk grooves with the soulful, sexy, and sultry singing of Syrene, with the addition of unexpected trumpet, clarinet, and other exotic instruments and drum loops by the duo's other half, Ben. Reminiscent of genre-benders such as Sneaker Pimps, Boomla is definitely carving their own path.

Clif mixed a new track titled "Into Yesterday" by multi-platinum band Sugar Ray. In addition to a stereo mix for a soundtrack album, Clif mixed in 5.1 a surround mix for the song to be included in an Oscar Nominated Sony Pictures animated release titled "Surf's Up."


Clif produced and mixed an album for Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers called "No More Beautiful World". The album was released on March 21st, and debuted at #8 on the Billboard top Internet Albums chart and at #14 on the top Independent Album Chart. Clif was honored to be working with Roger and drummer PH Naffah again since it has been around a decade since Clif produced the successful major label debut album of their previous band, The Refreshments.

Clif is interviewed in the 50th Anniversary Special Issue of Audio Technology Magazine. In the interview, Clif discusses what he values the most, following the "indispensable" theme of the issue.

Clif recently completed recording and mixing an album for Australian indie pop-rockers Little Birdy with producer John King of the Dust Brothers ( Beck, Beastie Boys). The resulting album "Hollywood" debuted at #8 on the ARIA charts! The album has been officially certified Gold, and is expected to reach the Platinum sales award soon.

Clif also tracked drums with the legendary Josh Freese for artist Jeremy Camp.
The album, "Beyond Meaure" reached #29 on the Billboard Album chart, and #2 on the Billboard Top Christian Album chart. The album has been certified Gold by the RIAA.

The Noisettes have released the debut full length CD, "What's the Time Mr. Wolf" which Clif produced on Universal / Motown Records. The album debuted at #24 on Billboard's Heatseeker chart. The Noisettes have been chosen by Rolling Ston e magazine as one of the 10 artists to Watch. They also have been chosen as one of 6 Hot New Artists for 2007 by HMV. The Noisettes got an amazing review in the New York Times of their SXSW performance. Here is a quote from the review: "Two of the most extraordinary bands defied categories and tore apart verse-chorus-verse forms... And the Noisettes were exhilarating and explosive, jumping from era to era, punk-funk to vaudeville swing to blues-rock as their singer and bass player, Shingai Shoniwa, belted questions like 'What's wrong with the human condition?'"After completing a hugely successful arena tour in the UK and Europe supporting Muse, they have toured the US supporting TV on the Radio and Bloc Party, and were personally asked by Pharrell Williams to open for his London shows. One of the tracks Clif produced was also included on the infamous Pete Doherty's Babyshambles latest release, titled "Back to the Bus", a compilation of their favorite songs to listen to on the road.

Clif tracked 3 songs with cool LA band Death House Chaplain. The singer has a stunning voice that will pull you in.

Anouk
won the 2006 MTV EMA for Best Dutch/Belgian act for the second year in a row. Anouk also wins her 5th Edison award (the Dutch equivalent of the Grammy) for Best National Female Singer. In other Anouk news, the album Clif produced entitled "Hotel New York" is officially double platinum in Holland and Platinum in Belgium. The album was the second highest selling album in Holland for 2005, and the single for "Girl" is the highest selling single of all time in Holland, beating out "Hit Me Baby One More Time" by you know who. Anouk also won 3 TMF Belgium (MTV) Awards for this album.

Clif mixed the new single "Falling Apart" for The Lovemakers.

Clif worked in Italy tracking new songs with Sting with his new stripped down band with drummer Josh Freese, and guitarists Lyle Workman and long time Sting collaborator Dominic Miller.

Clif also mixed a new album for Dutch hard rockers Green Lizard called "Las Armas Del Silencio". Clif produced two albums for this innovative post-grunge band, but couldn't get over to Europe again to do this one due to his hectic schedule. This one is definitely the heaviest yet. Their tour in Europe supporting the amazing Skin from Skunk Anansie, another one of Clif's clients, was a huge success.
